About Renate

Born and raised in the Catskill Mountains of New York state, I graduated with a degree in Interior and Architectural Design from Cazenovia College in upstate New York. I relocated to Florida in January 1986 where I began my career in the commercial building industry as an architectural detailer, which later transitioned into my current position of architectural estimator here in Charleston, South Carolina.

During my early years in Florida, I enjoyed long discussions about astrology with my aunts, Regina and Maria. Regina had formal Western Astrology training in New Jersey during the 1970’s and graciously supported my eagerness to delve into the exciting subject. She opened her heart, mind, and notebooks with me for many years! I believe she, along with her sister, is watching over me and is happy that I am continuing their legacy of sharing astrology with others.

While my aunts fueled my astrology interest, good ‘luck’ (re)connected me with a wise old soul, my “soul sista” and dear friend, Patrice, whom I would visit psychics and study numerology with, explore local metaphysical bookstores in search of the next gem of a book, and someone who would nudge me further into astrology. Our friendship gave me a safe place where I could be myself and offered the freedom I needed to explore our unusual topics of interest.

In 2002, I enrolled in the Ayurvedic Astrology certification course (formerly known as The Astrology of the Seers course) with Acharya Vamadeva Shastri -David Frawley, Vedic teacher and author. (This was the time in which I shifted from Western to Vedic Astrology.) I continued studying with my primary tutor, Vedic Astrologer, Sanskrit instructor, and author Penny Farrow. In 2003, I passed the American College of Vedic Astrology certification exam and later received the title Jyotish Visharada. I have taken continuing education courses with Sam Geppi, whom I have watched blossom into a bright and prolific Vedic Astrologer, author, and teacher.

I also began practicing meditation, studying formally with my first instructor back in 1992. I completed the Transformation Meditation program in 2004 with Sherri Wade and delved deeper into advanced Consciousness Studies for seven years beginning in 2007 with Mudrasham.

I decided to close my professional astrology practice back in 2014 to reorganize my astrological service into a new form—that of teaching. I’m eager to focus my energy on assisting more people blossom as astrologers in their own right.

I am an approved teacher through the Council of Vedic Astrology and featured guest author at Astrologic Magazine.  I currently live in Charleston, South Carolina.
